a good year in film ended with a good awards show! i thoroughly enjoyed the show (although, besides the opening number, the music extremely lacked…what was that musical in the middle all about?! bad news…), and was happy with all the winners!

wil and i decided to dress up as jamal and latika from the final scene of slumdog millionaire. we were very excited about our concept, except hardly anyone at the party had seen the movie, so no one knew who we were. :( i had drawn a scar on my face too, based on the ending, and i got multiple questions about what happened to my face, or if i wasn’t paying attention when i put my makeup on… the only upside was that while most girls dressed up for the party, i was nice and comfortable for the 4 hour show wearing jeans and a tee!

the other upside to the party was that i won the ballot pot! i only missed 4 categories (and they were random ones too, like sound mixing and animation short), and so i got to split the pot with our friend tim, who missed the same ones as me! (no we didn’t cheat…we were even watching it in different rooms) i’m now $35 bucks richer. woot!

wil on the other hand unfortunately got picked on, because he had discovered a blog that claimed to have the leaked answers, and got about 4 categories right…so much for trusting everything you read on the internet! i don’t think he was too disappointed since i won our money back for us.

our lovely hostess (yes, with the mostest)

oscar was a hit too! i discovered only today that he had some special moments with dave and steph in the kitchen…i happily added him to steph’s decorations to pull out for next year. if he can make it….i hear he’s starting to lean to the right a little bit. he must have had too much fun last night…

you seriously didn’t like the musical number? i honestly think that might have been my favorite part. really, i could have watched 3 hours of hugh jackman and been sitting pretty!! not having seen any of the nominated movies, i guess i clung to the “entertainment” for the evening. thank goodness for fast forward!!

OH NO…the LEANING OSCAR? Didn’t Dena’s fall over too?
Sounds like a very fun evening. Dad and I had wonderful appetizers, wine and steak dinner on TV trays and in our sweats!!! He whopped me with 14 or 15 right answers to my 10…so competitive…he loved rubbing it in! Last night we went and say “Doubt”…we loved it!!!

    love, MOM
