some goodness happened in this apartment tonight.

after walking to trader joe’s, we came home with our already well used recycled grocery bags (were such greeners, aren’t we??) filled with some goodies for dinner. unfortunately we were unsuccessful in finding spring roll wrappers to make our own with lots of julienned veggies…but we had high hopes for our main part of dinner…chicken fried rice!

if you’ve seen our kitchen, you won’t believe it, but both of us were in there at one time…both actually doing stuff! wil taught me how to julienne….and i didn’t do so well, but i only had myself to please, so my stakes weren’t set very high. i also didn’t care so much (and might be why i wasn’t paying attention to my cutting), since journey was playing in the background. let me tell you, i have this recent unbridled love for journey, that may have been secretly in me all along until i actually realized journey’s songs. with hips swaying, i ‘chopped’ (i can’t technically say chopped, because i technically didn’t officially chop anything since chop is a specific type of cut, and we regular kitcheners seem to let that slip and cover all of cutting). and i manned the premade potstickers.

dinner was fab, and seemed so much healthier than the delivery version, with our fresh carrots, peppers, cabbage and peas…and i was looking forward to our ‘nightcap’ idea.

another find (thanks laura k!) was a $3.99 malbec at joe’s that we grabbed this afternoon, and we planned on heading upstairs to our roof with wine glasses and bottle in hand. but we opened the door to a soggy rainy outdoors. we stayed up there long enough to take a picture and immediately turn around. my one disappointment for the night. : (

the malbec as i type though, is pretty great, and we are gearing up for mythbusters to come on, and entertain us with the magic and myths of duct tape. so i’d say that should round of the night pretty nicely.
