it’s the middle of summer.

it’s probably hot where you are.

spring flowers have withered, while tomatoes and peppers are ripening in the sun.

and i’m thinking of the beach!

the beach is one of my most favorite of places, as it is for a lot of people. but for me, it’s a very specific little beach close to my childhood and heart. something switches off (or on?) inside of me as i walk down narcissus ave and get my first glimpse over the cliff to the site of corona del mar. the winding, ridiculously steep path down the hill, the tide pools to the left, and the bustling atmosphere of families and couples lounging under the california sun.

although we moved out of southern california when i was just a 1st grader, this particular place holds a lot of significance for me after growing up here with grandparents, cousins and even some friends. if you ever come for a visit, you’ll find my family always near lifeguard station 5…if we’re not there, we’ve walked down to the other end of the beach for ice cream treats from the snack stand. or we never walked down to the sand at all and just enjoyed the sun & view from the patio rooftop of the beach house up the street!

(p.s. i stole these cell phone pictures from my mom & cousin….there’s too much relaxing done here to be busy with taking real pictures)
