hey there. thanks for coming by, and sticking around for a little bit.

my name is kris, and i was lucky enough to find the man i’d marry when i was 12. yep, you heard me right. sometimes i step back and can’t believe i’ve known him since i was in that awkward tween phase of life (c’mon, we were all there at one point). but it’s true. he knew early on he wanted to marry me. i scoffed at the thought of ‘liking’ my best friend all through high school until god softened both of our hearts (mostly mine) towards one another and dated during our senior year of high school, a bit of college, and then finally convinced our parents we were old enough to marry (not really the case, but it sounds dramatic, doesn’t it!?).

anyways, he and i have had a few adventures together, and look forward to many more. after high school i went to college to study interior design across the country from family in nashville, tennessee. that town will always have a special place in my heart, but we now live in portland, oregon…back in the home state while the hubs pursues a killer career in the food & restaurant scene. i am one lucky girl, i know.

over the course of a few chapters in my life these past two years of being in a new city, i came to the point where i quit a dead end job to regain happiness, peace, and maybe learn new ways to be creative and make money at the same time (what a concept!).

enter in ‘life at the table’. wil and i have blogged for a long time…while in tennessee it was an easy way to stay updated with the rest of our west coast family, and when his culinary school became his focus, it transitioned to a place to share the creations in our kitchen (and ‘vie a la table’ was born). it’s purpose continually shifts, where i can still share our daily life happenings and recipes, but hopefully offer more to you, my reader! and as my etsy shop has opened, it is just another avenue of our love for the time spent in the kitchen. i hope you take a peek over there, and maybe see something you like!
